Description

I am a molecular evolutionary geneticist with a strong interest in bioinformatics.  As a member of the ERIC/BRC curation team, my responsibilities include authoring and curating annotations of Enterbacterial genomes housed in the ASAP database.  Many of the annotations in ASAP are derived from primary literature and various public resources.  A additional curatorial task is to determine ortholgous and paralogous relationships among the the various genomes stored in the ASAP.  Once this has been accomplished for a given gene, it is then possible to transfer annotations between orthologs.  Another important duty is to contribute to the ERIC/BRC community outreach efforts, largely through presentations and workshops. I have also been working on web-based tutorials to provide self-instruction in annotation techniques and the use of the ASAP software.
